Training for new councillors

We can help your newly elected councillors settle in quickly with training options that include: managing casework; time management; introduction to overview and scrutiny; working with officers and partners; speed reading.

Effective councillor skills

We can help councillors develop the interpersonal skills needed to achieve positive outcomes when working with people. Options include: advanced communication skills; conflict resolution; community engagement.

Local government finance

We break this complex area down into four modules: understanding the basics; understanding your council’s annual financial statements; understanding your council’s MTFS, budget and budget monitoring reports; financial planning.

Organisational development

We have sessions designed to help managers and staff navigate evolving council structures and culture. Options include: practical project management; management fundamentals; understanding strategic thinking; changing council culture.

A lot of great nuggets to help with my chairing journey. In particular, how to deal with conflict and language to use. Miranda spoke very clearly and calmly making the meeting seem very quick. All information was on topic.
