Cllr Tracey Dixon

In 2002, Tracey became an elected member of South Tyneside Council. In that time, she has led many portfolios, including Culture and Leisure, Area Management & Community Safety and Adult Social Care and Health, which she continued to lead on when she took on the role of Deputy Leader. In 2020, she became Leader of South Tyneside Council and led the authority through the pandemic and cost of living crisis.

Tracey is a Cabinet Member of the North East Combined Authority, where she currently serves as the Portfolio Holder for Home of Real Opportunity, championing inclusive growth and expanding opportunities across the region.

Nationally, she serves as Vice–President of UK100, the UK’s cross–party network for local climate action, reflecting her commitment to delivering ambitious and collaborative environmental leadership.

Within the Local Government Association, Tracey is an active member of the LGA Neighbourhoods Committee, and continues her role in national leadership through the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE), where she now serves as the National Chair.

She is also very proud to serve as a member of the LGIU Executive Board, contributing to policy insight and strengthened connections across the local government sector.
